Registrar Christopher Namagowa, addressing the assembled students, praised the outgoing president, Isaac Visakose Kamfozi, for his unwavering commitment to student welfare and his tireless efforts in maintaining campus harmony.
Then, the focus shifted to the newly elected president, Eric Magetsi – or “Getsi,” as he’s affectionately known. Namagowa extended his congratulations, emphasizing the profound responsibility entrusted to the young leader.
Dr. Benjamin Kumwenda, Director of Student Affairs, echoed the Registrar’s sentiments, emphasizing the importance of addressing student concerns and fostering open communication between the SRC and university management.
The outgoing president Isaac Visakose Kamfozi’s farewell speech was filled with a heartfelt message to his successor.
“Eric this role is not just about representing students—it is about being the voice of your peers, even when their concerns are not popular or easy to address. You must be impartial, and always remember that the needs of the students are your top priority,” he said.
Filled with gratitude Magetsi took to stage for his acceptance speech pledging to foster team work in ensuring oneness is achieved for the common goal.
“Together, we are stronger. We are a team, and we will work together to achieve the goals we’ve set for this academic year,” he said.
