First call for abstracts – 2023 KUHeS Research Dissemination Conference

The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) is pleased to announce that the 2nd KUHeS Research Dissemination Conference will be held from Thursday, 30th November to Friday, 1st December 2023 at the KUHeS, Blantyre Campus, along Mahatma Gandhi road in Blantyre, Malawi.

The conference is the premier gathering of local and international research scientists, public health practitioners & policy-makers. This year’s theme is “Tackling National Health Research Priorities: Through Multidisciplinary Approaches”.

During this conference, participants will discuss and reflect on improving quality of health through multidisciplinary research and innovations in Malawi. KUHeS is therefore inviting interested investigators to submit abstracts relevant to any of the following thematic areas:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Mental Health
  3. Infectious diseases
  4. Environmental Health
  5. Health Systems & Policy
  6. Non-communicable diseases
  7. Social & Behavioral Sciences
  8. Trauma & Emergency Medicine
  9. Epidemiology and Public Health
  10. Sexual and Reproductive Health
  11. Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health

Applicants are advised that applications and registration will be done online therefore they should visit http://rdc.kuhes.ac.mw/ to register and submit their abstracts. The abstracts should be submitted by 17:00hrs on Wednesday, 25th October 2023.

Please note that the Malawi Medical Journal (MMJ) will publish a special issue for 2023 Research Dissemination Conference abstracts. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and successful investigators will be informed by Wednesday, 1st November 2023. The closing date for registration and payment is Tuesday, 14th November 2023.

Applicants will be required to pay registration fees as follows;

  1. Undergraduate students: MK25,000
  2. Postgraduate students: MK30,000
  3. KUHeS faculty members and affiliates staff: MK45,000
  4. Other local delegates: MK75,000
  5. International delegates: $150

Limited conference grants will be offered to students that submit high quality abstracts. Students will be required to fill appropriate conference grant application forms online.
