  1. Medical Scheme Registration

Every student is required register with a medical scheme so that they should have a medical cover. The University registers the students with the University of Malawi Medical Scheme (UNIMED). UNIMED medical scheme team registers students into the scheme during the first semester and they issue them with membership cards immediately to new eligible students. These cards must be shown at hospitals to access health services.  Please note that the medical scheme is only eligible to students who have paid their school fees and are registered.

       2. Fire Safety

Each campus is equipped with clearly marked fire assembly points, which serve as designated safe zones where students must gather in the event of a fire or evacuation. To promote emergency readiness, all students are required to participate in regular fire drills. These drills are designed to familiarize students with evacuation procedures, safe exit routes, and proper response protocols during fire emergencies.

Students assigned to hospitals or clinical environments as part of their training particularly in undergraduate programmes are required to receive the Hepatitis B vaccine prior to beginning their clinical placements. This precaution is essential to protect both students and patients from potential transmission of infectious diseases.
